Wrapping up another year
It's Christmas Eve and we are wrapping up another exciting year in the world of clay. It has been a busy 2007 for From Dust to Clay. Sandy and I entered 5 shows this year. Three were juried (Rockaway Beach Art Festival, Albany Art and Air Festival, and Art in the Burbs). Art in the Burbs was really enjoyable as it was in our neighborhood and 20% of our sales went to the Tigard School District Foundation. Other shows that we exhibited at were at a First Thursday event in the Pearl District and a neighborhood art sale gathering of local artists. We also were in a downtown Portland Gallery (City Arts Gallery) this year. It was a great way to start marketing our pottery. A lot of our sales this year actually came through commissions at the various shows and from some personal friends. This year we sold a set of large planters, some of our spawning fish vases, lots of bowls, a unique style of sugar pourers, and our siganature nativity scenes. The Nativity Scenes really help us get into the Christmas spirit. We started making them in October - next year we will have to start in August as we sold out again. We posted some pictures of the various styles on our 'Recent Events' page. Thanks so much to those of you who made it to one of our sales and a big thank you again if you purchased something. If you are ever looking for a hand made piece of pottery please let us know - we would love to make it for you. Thanks for browsing our site and a very Merry Christmas - From Dust to Clay.
